Dino Dossier - Oviraptor

Hi guys! So here we have the first raptor in Raptor Raiders, our second DD mini-series! Oviraptor's name is Latin for 'egg taker', and while eggs may or may not have been a part of its diet in reality, in ARK, Oviraptor does indeed feed on eggs, taking them stealthily from other creatures' nests!

-------------------------

Basic Information
Common Name: Oviraptor
Species: Oviraptor philodator
Time: Late Cretaceous
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Skittish

Wild
Oviraptor philodator is a small-to-medium sized carnivore, common in the jungles and beaches of the island. Despite being a carnivore, Oviraptor's primary source of food is eggs, which it steals from nests. Unlike any other creature, Oviraptor seems to be able to surreptitiously steal these eggs usually without attracting the attention of an irate mother.

Domesticated
Too small to fight or ride, Oviraptor is still one of the more commonly tamed creatures on the island. Its pheromone release ensures an increased stream of eggs from nearby mated wild creatures, for breeding, eating, or cooking kibble. And Oviraptor will autonomously do the dirty work of collecting them on your behalf without attracting unwanted attention. They also make quite adorable sounds, so many children simply like to keep them as rather strange companions.

Others
In an incredible feat of natural selection, Oviraptor seems to emit a chemical pheromone that affects many creatures as an aphrodisiac. Mated creatures are much more likely to... 'create' new eggs while Oviraptor is around, which allows the Oviraptor to go about its business unperturbed.

[all information below to be updated once creature has been released]

Behaviour
Oviraptor is a sneaky dinosaur, stealing its meals stealthily, but due to its smaller size and lack of much weapons like sharp teeth, it doesn't do very well in combat. Thus, Oviraptor is a more skittish creature, and probably flees more often than not.

Resources From Harvesting
Survivors would be able to obtain Raw Meat and Hide from corpses of Oviraptor.

Taming Methods
Knocking an Oviraptor unconscious would be one method of taming one! In the future, I think it may also be possible to feed them eggs to tame? :)

Food
Oviraptors feed on eggs! I can imagine they might eat kibble as well, but I'm not sure about other forms of carnivorous food like meat.

Utility
Oviraptor emits a chemical pheromone which increases egg production from mated creatures which are near it. In the wild, this means more food for the Oviraptor, but as a tamed dinosaur, this provides survivors with a larger supply of eggs for use in breeding, as food or to make kibble, as mentioned in the dossier.

Oviraptor is also able to collect eggs automatically, whether from your tamed animals or wild ones. While stealing wild animals' eggs, it usually does so without attracting any attention from the animals themselves, which makes Oviraptor one of the best ways, if not the best way, to collect eggs!

-------------------------

That concludes the first entry in Raptor Raiders! Oviraptor is a cool dinosaur, and so are its fellow raptors, which will be coming up soon!

Today's Dino Dossier has just been revealed! The featured dinosaur in this dossier actually isn't Allosaurus, as I had previously mentioned it was likely to be, but another theropod!

Giganotosaurus is a huge slaughtering machine, a raging creature that should be avoided! Be sure to check its dossier out!
