Dino Dossier - Utahraptor

Hey guys! Today we have Utahraptor, the second in the Raptor Raiders series! Utahraptor uses its speed to its advantage; everything it does is fast, like when it is ambushing, chasing and killing its prey!

Also, the Dino Dossier for Tusoteuthis, which is a giant squid, was just revealed today! We were previously expecting it on Wednesday, but who's complaining? HAHA

Without further ado, let's get on to the details on Utahraptor!

-------------------------

Basic Information
Common Name: Raptor
Species: Utahraptor prime
Time: Early Cretaceous
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Aggressive

Wild
Utahraptor prime is an incredibly aggressive sub-species of Utahraptor found on the island. It tends to travel in small hunting packs, attacking smaller prey with its sharp teeth or enlarged foreclaws.

Domesticated
Despite its normally aggressive nature, Utahraptor prime has become one of the main mounts for roaming bands of raiders, as well as scouts for the larger collectives. Those who ride Utahraptor prime claim they are difficult to tame, but fiercely loyal once they are. As a carnivore, once tamed they require a steady stream of meat to sustain.

Others
One of the faster creatures on the island, Utahraptor prime often uses hit-and-run tactics against larger opponents. The large curved talon on the second toe of this sub-species seems particularly suited for attacking while jumping.

Utahraptor prime usually kill their prey with numerous slashing and leaping attacks in rapid sequence.

-------------------------

Behaviour
Basically, Utahraptor tends to attack on sight because it is very aggressive. Furthermore, it is quite successful in its attacks against weaker prey, which includes less-experienced survivors. Newer players should always be on the lookout for Utahraptors, as they are a bit more common slightly inland from the beaches. Their high speed and hit-and-run attacks are very hard to fight against, especially at the earlier levels.

Resources From Harvesting
Survivors can obtain Raw Meat and Hide from bodies of dead Utahraptors.

Taming Methods
It may be a challenge to knock an Utahraptor out. A good opportunity to fling Tranquilliser Arrows or Stones at it would be when it is running directly towards you, exposing its head, making it a nice target.

Food
Utahraptor is a carnivore, and thus will eat almost all forms of meat.

When taming an Utahraptor, it is more effective to feed it Raw Prime Meat or Kibbles.

Utility
While Utahraptor is able to harvest Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat and Hide, it seems to be a rather mediocre way to obtain these resources, its yield hardly rivalling that of using Stone Tools. However, it is quick and convenient to use Utahraptor to harvest resources during hunts, as it fully harvests bodies within a matter of seconds!

Utahraptor is also able to obtain Keratin and Chitin from corpses, but in very small quantities.

As a hunter, Utahraptor is very effective because of its agility, rapid attacking speed and decent damage. These traits shine especially when attacking larger and slower opponents; Utahraptor is able to circle around these enemies easily while continuously attacking the target.

Utahraptor is an excellent mount for scouts or hunters who require speedy mounts, however, it gets encumbered very easily due to its lower weight capacity. Survivors must remember that whatever they are carrying in their own inventory also counts towards the mount's carrying capacity, so this swift dinosaur can become slow very easily.

-------------------------

If you were sharp, you may have noticed that the word 'raiders' was actually mentioned inside the dossier! I, for one, was not aware of it before this. What a nice coincidence HAHA

One of the main reasons why I called the mini-series Raptor Raiders is because they both start with 'R', so alliteration and all! Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed our second entry in this mini-series!

Gosh, what a busy week ahead I have... Not because of ARK, unfortunately :P
