Dino Dossier - Dimorphodon

Hi guys! v187 has been released, and with it comes Titanomyrma, as well as Dimorphodon! Dimorphodon is a flying reptile, and while it is too small to be ridden, it attacks enemies en masse, even being able to harass players directly, regardless of what mounts they are riding!

-------------------------

Basic Information
Common Name: Dimorphodon
Species: Dimorphodon equesica
Time: Early Jurassic
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Reactive

Wild
Dimorphodon equesica is another of the island's Jekyll-and-Hyde creatures. It is normally passive, sometimes even friendly. When provoked, it becomes very aggressive, even against larger creatures it has no business fighting... often to its own fatal end. Dimorphodon can make short work of smaller opponents, however, due to its large (but lightweight) skull and teeth.

Domesticated
Dimorphodon is one of the creatures on the island that is easily domesticated for companionship. But its use in combat is also quite clear: it will hunt in large groups to seek out enemy riders directly, harassing them to no end -- regardless of the might of the mount upon they may be astride!

Others
Barely over a meter tall, Dimorphodon should be low on the food chain, but its incredible speed and surprisingly strong bite makes it firmly dangerous, especially en masse as they tend to attack in groups.

A flock of angry or hungry Dimorphodon can take down prey several times their size, so survivors should take care not to hunt near where a flock is gathered.

-------------------------

Behaviour [to be updated once AI is enhanced]
Dimorphodon generally will not attack unless provoked. It is a very agile flyer, and a flock of them could prove an annoyance, especially if they are attacking, as they are very hard to hit.

Resources From Harvesting
Dimorphodon provides a limited amount of Raw Meat and Hide when harvested, as it is one of the smaller creatures on the island.

Taming Methods [to be updated once taming system is enhanced]
Currently, a Dimorphodon can only be tamed by knocking one unconscious. It is recommended to use a Slingshot or Tranquilliser Arrows to do so.

However, this may be difficult as they fly in circles around you very quickly, making them extremely hard to hit. It might be easier to shoot them from a slightly further distance, and continue doing so as they approach you.

Food [to be updated once taming system is enhanced]
Dimorphodon consumes raw, cooked and jerky, of both normal and prime quality.

During taming, it prefers Raw Prime Meat and Kibbles.

Utility
While Dimorphodon cannot be ridden, it can serve a few other purposes.

Dimorphodon can be used as a kind of 'hunting dog', a flying one, no less, to hunt creatures with its owner. Its attacks from the sky are swift, and a group of them will be able to take down most creatures very quickly.

If one was interested in attacking other players, Dimorphodon can perform the job of distracting enemies. Since they attack players, even when they are on mounts, directly, they can make opponents panic, as they were not expecting to be in direct danger while on a mount, and they may then make mistakes which would turn the tide of a battle in favour of the attacker.

Be sure to look out for these new creatures in-game! Our Game Update v187 post is coming right up, so hang in there!
