Dino Dossier - Titanomyrma

Hey guys! Titanomyrma will be released soon in v187, and I thought it would be nice to do a post on it right before they crawl into the game!

The name Titanomyrma more or less means 'giant ant', and as you can see, they ARE giant ants! These creatures are cool and different from the other animals on the island for a number of reasons. They live in colonies, and are hive-minded creatures, as well as having at least two different variants, drones and soldiers.

-------------------------

Basic Information
Common Name: Titanomyrma
Species: Titanomyrma parvagigan
Time: Paleogene
Diet: Herbivore
Temperament: Territorial

Wild
Titanomyrma is one of the smaller creatures on the island; a frightening thought, when you realise it is the size of a dog.

Domesticated
Because of its hive mentality, I've not seen any successfully tamed Titanomyrma on the island yet. Fortunately for lone survivors, separated Titanomyrma can be easily picked off for a small supply of Chitin among other valuable natural resources.

Others
A hive-minded herbivore, Titanomyrma usually goes about its business unless provoked.

When attacked or threatened, it releases a chemical which alerts all other Titanomyrma in a large range to help fight the aggressor.

I've seen two varieties of Titanomyrma: drones and soldiers. Drones are smaller, faster, and land-bound, and they harvest for the hive. Soldiers are larger, slower, and have wings; they defend the hive. If Titanomyrma is akin to other hive-insects, there must be queens too, but I've yet to encounter such a variant.

-------------------------

Behaviour [to be updated once AI is enhanced]
Titanomyrma, like many other creatures on the island, is a peaceful animal, but not one that should be trifled with. The hive mind allows a horde of Titanomyrma to act and attack in unity, meaning that they can bring down enemies many times their size!

Furthermore, the chemicals that are emitted when a Titanomyrma is attacked travel far and wide, thus even a seemingly lone Titanomyrma may have backup in a matter of seconds!

Resources From Harvesting
Titanomyrma are not very good sources of Raw Meat, but their value lies in the small amounts of Chitin they provide.

Taming Methods
Titanomyrma is not tameable, at least at the moment.

Food
Being herbivorous, Titanomyrma would likely consume berries.

Utility
If it were possible to tame Titanomyrma, they would be very useful as there are different variants which have different abilities, such as drones which are smaller and faster, making them more agile, as well as soldiers which are larger and can fly, meaning they probably have more health and damage, thus making them very versatile.

-------------------------

Again, Titanomyrma is coming up soon in the next patch, v187! I am very eager to see them in-game, so do look out for them when they arrive!

Dimorphodon will be flying in alongside Titanomyrma, and I will be doing a Dino Dossier post on them sometime in the coming week, so watch out for that as well!

I'm actually watching Ant-Man today, such a coincidence! HAHAHA
Thanks again guys, see you again soon! :)
