Dino Dossier - Dunkleosteus

Hi guys! I thought it'd be great for today's Dino Dossier post to be on the ultra-cool monstrosity, Dunkleosteus!

This huge fish just looks so awesome, and in fact, it doesn't disappoint!

Basic Information

Common Name: Dunkleosteus

Species: Dunkleosteus loricaruptor

Time: Late Devonian

Diet: Carnivore

Temperament: Aggressive

Wild

Dunkleosteus loricaruptor is a very strange creature. It is a fairly large fish, covered head to tail in armoured plates, with incredibly powerful jaws. It tends to eat the islands' water-dwelling crustaceans, as it is not fast enough to catch most of the smaller fish.

Domesticated

Dunkleosteus is an incredibly useful fish for coastal communities. Its powerful jaws make short work of the stone and oil formations found throughout the oceanic depths. While harvesting, Dunkleosteus can handily defend its rider from all but the largest threats in the waters. And once past its prime, the Dunkleosteus can be harvested for a fair amount of Chitin.

Others

Dunkleosteus is surprisingly combat-oriented for a fish. Its well-armoured body protects it from many creatures, while its bite is strong enough to easily crush through chitinous shells.

Behaviour

Dunkleosteus is an aggressive carnivore, but being slow, it would not chase after the faster creatures in the sea.

Resources From Harvesting

Players can expect to be able to obtain Raw Meat as well as Chitin from Dunkleosteus. It could possibly give Raw Prime Meat as well.

Taming Methods

One way to tame it could possibly be to knock it out, but its thick armour could hinder this process, as arrows may be unable to pierce it.

Food

Being a carnivore, Dunkleosteus would eat most kinds of meat.

Utility

Dunkleosteus would be a very good resource harvester. Its powerful jaws allow it to crush stone and oil formations, so it could possibly be able to gather Stone and Oil.

It is also likely that Dunkleosteus would be able to harvest Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat, Hide, Keratin and Chitin from dead bodies in the water.

Of course, Dunkleosteus would be unable to obtain resources from bushes and trees.

Being a fairly large creature, it would be no surprise if Dunkleosteus could carry a significant amount of items.

Also, with its great armour, as well as high damage, because of its devastating bite, Dunkleosteus would be a good aquatic combat mount, for hunting other creatures, or even attacking other players!
